What is your favorite hymn lyric?

3. It is Well
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
I love the visual nature of these lines. Where you put your focus matters.
2. Amazing Grace
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun
One thing I've learned in life is just how fast it passes by. I used to make fun of my father for saying something was "just the other day" when it had happened forty years prior. Now I completely understand. I wonder how fast time will pass in Heaven.
3. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
If I owned everything imaginable, it wouldn't be enough to give to God. No, nothing short of every bit of my essence is too small. God's love is so vast and so amazing that it deserves my everything.
