There's something to be said for living life to its fullest. Live life abundantly. Live life purposefully. Live intentionally. Living a rich and satisfying life. Leaving nothing on the table. Such a life and its source is described in John 10.

I think to truly live, we have to be aware that life here has an end. The song "This May Be The Last Time" has been on my mind a lot this week as our cat, Harry, has just about used up his nine lives. He is currently hanging in there, but it is clear he is not long for this world. We've had Harry for around ten years. I'm not sure my boys remember a time before we had him.

My favorite version of this song is by Blind Boys of Alabama, which follows the more traditional spiritual format...

The Staple Singers recorded the song in 1954. As far as I can tell, the song is older than that, but they recorded it first.

The Rolling Stones recorded the song "The Last Time" which is heavily influenced by this song:

And finally, Gurf Morlix doing the Blind Boys of Alabama version on acoustic guitar.

There are other versions out there, including a very upbeat rendition by The Blind Boys of Alabama.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. - John 10:10
