The Most High

This week's song is something different. Almost thirty years ago, as of this post, I wrote some lyrics with a friend, Kristi Smith – as I remember her being named, during the summer of 1992. Frankly, I cannot remember if we were on our way to summer camp or a mission trip, but on the way – in the back of a church van – the words to this song came quickly. We even had a simple tune worked out that I remember from time to time.

I'm not going to claim that it's the best song in the world, but it is pretty good for a couple of teenagers. It stays simple and to the point: Jesus is the name above all other names. I especially like the last verse:

He is the Baby

That has saved me.

And as I live for Him,

He sets me free.

Attached to this post is a rather weathered copy of the lyrics. The pages record the song written on July 30, 1992,
from 9:50 am - 10:05 pm. I also attached some photos of us from that general timeframe.

Time sure passes by quickly. We have changed a lot through the years. It is good to know that Christ and his message always stay the same.

The Most High

By Kristi Smith, Jesse Traynham

He is the Most High,

The King of all kings.

He takes care of me,

And of everything.

He is my Lord,

The ruler of all.

Oh, how he loves me,

Even when I fall.

He is here to help me

When I'm falling down.

I just call on Him,

And He runs at the sound.

He is my God,

My Shield and Sword.

I will worship Him,

for He is my Lord.

He is my Keeper,

The Builder of my soul.

I pray that He will

Always have control.

He is here to help me

When I'm falling down.

I just call on Him,

And He runs at the sound.

He is the Baby

That has saved me.

And as I live for Him,

He sets me free.
