Oh, How We Laughed and Giggled

The other night we were playing a game at the table,
And we got to laughing and giggling such that we were not able
To play the game we had started.

Yes, we laughed and giggled and giggled and laughed.
I’m sure to an outsider we must have looked daft,
And entered a territory uncharted.

Nay, we did not snicker and sneer or guffaw.
We did not raise our heads or thump our chests in awe.
No, nothing quite so dignified.

Instead, we snorted and spat and gasped for breath.
We lost all control and laughed ourselves to death.
Perhaps we should have been certified.

At one point, it got so severe,
I had to get back in my chair,
After falling on my rear.

We tried to remember what started the affair.
Not one could remember or even care.
We may have even forgotten why we were there.

Yes, we giggled and laughed and laughed and giggled
We chortled, chuckled, crackled, and chilled.
We were entirely out of controls.

We convulsed and shrieked and hee-hawed.
Our sides were split, but still no guffaw.
We cheered from our very souls.

We finally calmed down and started another round.
Then I looked up to eyes gawking back at me, and it all unwound.
I was so weak; it was hardly any fun.

We attempted once again to stop.
The hour was late, and they could hear us from the hilltop.
Alas, we composed ourselves and were done.

Author’s Note
We live in such a serious time these days. Perhaps from time to time, it is good to let go. Find some good friends. Gather around the table. Lose control and laugh a little. Laugh like nobody is watching.

So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
